What Is Pelvic Health Physical Therapy?

Pelvic health PT focuses on the muscles, ligaments, connective tissue, and joints of the pelvis, helping people manage a range of concerns related to the pelvic floor and core. Whether you’re recovering from childbirth, managing chronic pain, or seeking help with bladder or bowel control, our expert care can help restore balance and function.

Common Reasons to Seek Pelvic Health Physical Therapy:

  • Urinary incontinence or urgency
  • Pain with intercourse
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Pregnancy and postpartum recovery
  • Chronic pelvic, hip, or lower back pain
  • Constipation or bowel dysfunction
  • Endometriosis, PCOS, or interstitial cystitis
  • Post-surgical recovery (e.g. hysterectomy, C-section)
  • Diastasis recti (abdominal separation)
Pelvic health therapy is often the missing piece for many people struggling with these issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

In most cases, no. Direct access laws allow you to start pelvic PT for the first 30 days without a referral. We’ll let you know if your situation requires one.

Will internal pelvic floor work be required?

Not necessarily. We will discuss all treatment options with you. Any internal assessment or treatment is only done with your informed consent and comfort.

Can I schedule an appointment if I’m pregnant or if I just had a baby?

Yes! Pelvic PT is incredibly beneficial during and after pregnancy. We’ll tailor your care to your trimester or postpartum stage.

How soon will I feel better?

Some patients feel relief after just 1-2 visits, while others may need several weeks of care. We’ll regularly assess progress and adjust as needed.

Is this just for women?

Not at all. Anyone can experience pelvic floor dysfunction, and we welcome everyone.
